January 23rd-25th

This week was a review week and learning about Martin Luther King Jr and Polar Bears.

We read Happy Birthday Martin Luther King Jr and talked all about why we celebrate him.

It was also a good week to review our letters.  We dipped a Q-tip in paint and traced the letters.  This was a big hit.  The kids absolutely loved this activity.

We also are still practicing our names.  How to spell them.  How to write them.
How to recognize them.

We practiced our numbers as well.  Another big hit....stickers and counting. The kids all did a fabulous job counting and recognizing numbers 1-5.

On Friday it was Polar Bear Day.  We read Big Bear, Little Bear.
We had Polar Bear Snacks.

We made Polar Bear art with our handprints, gluing, stickers, cotton balls and stamps.

Then we played a game and hid 10 Polar Bear around the room.  Everyone got to find 2 Polar Bears each.  We then learned a fun fact for every Polar Bear found.  Ask your child what they learned about Polar Bears.  Like ...
Where do they live?
What do they eat?
What are their babies called?
What color are their noses and feet?

What a awesome week and another short week.  Next week is all about the Letter M, Mittens, Number 3 and still more Name activities. Should be another fun week.  Thanks for the wonderful snacks and being on time to pick up your child.

On another note, I have only heard from a few of you about next year, so please let me know if you want to put your childs name on the list for this fall.
Sincerely,
Miss Heidi

The last few weeks have been crazy.  Last week was all about the Letter Kk, its sound and how to write it.  We also learned about Winter/Snowmen and the Number 1.  This week was all about the Letter Ll, its sound and how to write it.  We also learned about the Number 2. Penguins have been postponed for a few weeks until letter P. We are still and for the rest of the month focusing on our names and how to recognize and write them.  Next week, there is no school Monday and it is Martin Luther King Jr. Week.

Here are some highlights from the last two weeks....
1. Snowman during playtime built out of domino's and of course we knocked it down.
2.  We made popcicle stick snowmen.
3.  We had fun snowman snacks with orange rolls and powdered donuts.
4.  Snowmen made from mini marshmellows.
5.  We read "The Biggest Snowman Ever", "When will it Snow",  "The Snow Family", and "Hey Pancakes".
6. We mixed and cooked our own letter and number pancakes!
7.  We made snow playdough and then made letters for our names and then snowmen.
8.  We made our Letter "K" and "L" posters and sang their songs.
9.  We made our Letter "K" and "L" handprints animal alphabet book pages.  (Koala Bear not shown)
10.  Random Dinosaur Puzzle during playtime, we were really in a puzzle mood because we did it twice and really worked as a team.
11. We played with shaving cream on the table, writing our names, letters and numbers (Sorry no photo).

Great last two weeks and wasn't all the snow fun last weekend! On another note enrollment for this fall is on the tip of everyones brain.  I am getting questions and phone calls.  So I am opening registration for a fall preschool class 2013-2014 to all my current students.  I will be keeping the same schedule for this fall.  Teaching Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings 9:00-11:30 a.m. a mixed 3/4 year old class.  Three year olds will have a 2 day a week options.  Two days a week is $75 and all three day is $90 with all paying a $50 registration fee to hold spot for  next year and all supplies during the year.  To register for this fall, simply pay the registration fee and that will guarantee your child a spot. After about a month or after I have heard from all current students,  I will open it up to others.  When I am full and if there is still interest I will see about possibly having a seperate three year old class and a seperate four year old class, by opeining another class and time.  We will reach that bridge if we get to it.  This is turning into a novel, so laters.  Thanks for all you do, love, love, love your children.
Sincerely,
               Miss Heidi

January 2nd-4th, 2013

So this week was all about the season WINTER and snowflakes. We had so much fun and it was also a short week.
-We made snowflake tortillas and sprinkled them with colored sprinkles and cinnamon, and of course we ate them for snack.
-We read "Its Winter", and "Zoo Flakes".
-We sang snowball, snoman and January song.
-We made popcicle stick snowflakes with glitter, stickers, feathers, and sequines.
-We watercolored for the first time and found a magic snowflake on our paper.
-We practiced spelling and recognizing our names.  We glued snowflake cereal onto our names on paper. These didnt turn out exactly as I had pictured, but the concept was learned.  We are working really hard this month to spell and write and recognize our first names.
-We had carrots, yogurt covered raisins, capri suns and granola bars for snack-Thans Miss E.
-We made paper snowballs and had a snowball fight. Because it was wayyy to cold to go outside.

Next week is all about the letter Kk, its sound and how to write it.  We are also learning the number 1.  Plus focusing on our Names some more.  Thanks for all you do to pay tuition on time, help with snack, pick up your child on time, encouraging compliments, commenting on the blog - it encourages me and I just love teaching Preschool.
Sincerely,
Miss Heidi
