December 3rd-7th

Monday
-We Learned about letter I, its sound, uppercase and lowercase and all things that begin with "I".
-We read "The Alphabet Adventure".

-We made a Santa Claus Countdown for Christmas. How many days until Santa comes?

Wednesday
-We made our letter I alphabet page.  I is for Icecream.

-We decorated a tree for our preschool! I think it turned out awesome.  I did have to move a few ornaments around.  I should have taken a picture of all the ornaments on the bottom 6 inches of the tree and all in the same place.  We decorated one 12 inch circle basically.  I did a little rearranging.

Friday
-We read the "Gingerbread House".
-We made a Gingerbread boy and girl.  The lacing part was tricky and the kids told me it was too hard.  So keep practicing those fine motor skills.  Untie the yarn and have them lace it up again, just for practice.

-We also made our gingerbread boy and girl a christmas tree.  These were so fun to make and watch the kids licking and spreading the frosting.

-These are the books we read this week.
-We also went on a fieldtrip to Dicks Market in Centerville.  It was fun just to get out of preschool for a little bit and check out a store/jobs in our city.  Thanks to all the moms who came and helped.

November 26th- 30th

I just realized that I forgot to post about our Thanksgiving Feast.  My apologies, that was a crazy weekend around here.  So here is some info about our party in a tiny little nutshell.  We played with our friends and our toys.  We then had circle time.  We went on a turkey hunt and found 10 turkeys hiding in Miss Heidi's house.  We make a turkey with our feet, some paint and some paper feathers and googly eyes, of course.  We also matched lowercase letters to uppercase letters on turkeys with feathers.  We read the book " 10 Fat Turkeys".  We dressed up as pilgrim boys and girls and ate our wonderful feast-turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, jello, carrots and dip, crackers and cheese, oranges.  We had a turkeyrific time!

This past week here at school was all about the letter H, its sound, how to write it, recognize it, uppercase and lowercase and all things that begin with the letter H.  Oh, and all about Hearts.  So what did we do....?
-We made heart sugar cookies, frosting and decorated them and then we ate them....Yum!
-We read 3 stories: "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer",  "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb", and "The Hat".
-We made a Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer to display in our classroom during the month of December.
-We made 2 candy canes, glued them together to make a heart and then painted them by rolling marbles through some red paint and all over our heart.  It's called Marble painting.
-We made our letter H poster, H is for; Hippo, Hat, Heart, Hand, Horse, Hamburger.....
-We checked out the Letter H on starfall.com, your children love this site.  Check it out!
-We made our alphabet page, H is for Hippo.
-We sang songs about the letter H, hearts, November, and Rudolph.
-We had delicious snacks like, sugar cookies and milk, Ho Ho's and bananas, animal crackers and juice.
- We traced Hearts with Markers.  Have you noticed how much better our tracing has gotten.  We are going to start learning how to trace and write our names at the beginning of the year. Yeah!
Our week, was, well, fun, fun, fun!

Next week, is all about the letter I and diamonds.  I know that Novembers calendar said we learned about diamonds, but we didnt-that week was crazy busy and we are just now getting around to learning about diamonds and it will wrap up our shape unit.

Also this coming week, we will be taking a field trip to Dicks Market in Centerville on Parrish Lane on Wednesday.  Our field trip starts at 10:00 a.m., so if you would like to come, please meet at the preschool at 9:50 a.m., we will load up and drive over.  It will only last between 30-45 minutes, so we will come back to preschool afterwards and finish up our day.  All parents are invited, if you cant make it, I can drive them in my car-just leave my their carseat please.

By the way, we have a new student joining us this week, so our class size is now 7.  Heads up on that for when you send snack.  We are excited to have him join our class.

Thanks for all you do, thanks for sharing your children with me.  I feel blessed to be able to do what I do.  I hope they are enjoying themselves as much as I am.  Sincerely, Miss Heidi
