Letter M Week January 13th-17th

Letter M Week

Our weekly alphabet page.  M is for mouse and money.  We talk about all the things that we can think about that begin with the letter M.  We sing our letter M song.  Practice the letter m sound. We give friends in our class who's names begin with letter M a cheer.
We play letter M games.  M is for Micky Mouse, Mask, Marshmallows, M&M's, Marbles, Magnets, Mirror, Mouse, Money and Mittens.  I hide all of the items and the children find them, when we find an item we practice making the letter M sound. Sometimes the simplest things are the things they like the most.  They love this game.
We practice the letter M is sign language as well as writing it in uppercase and lowercase.
We are learning our numbers write now, and it was number 2 week.  Most of the kids can recognize the number 2, so we are writing the number 2, counting, and recognizing it in different ways (like on a dice, domino, tally marks, and with our fingers).  I am saving these number pages to put together in a number book.
Letter M is for Money.  Money week is fun, we sorted it, talked about pennies, dimes, nickels and quarters, how much each are worth, what we use money for, what each coin looks like, some of the names of people on each coin, we sang money songs and made a money book.

Here are the books we read.  On Wednesday we read "If you give a Moose a Muffin", and made Double Chocolate Muffins for our Food Experience.
-We went on a walk this week, winter is hard for our wiggles, so it helps so much if we can get some fresh air.
-Our snack are always amazing, we seriously eat so good, popcorn, fruit snacks, graham crackers, drinks, we are so spoiled.  Thank you!

Next week is a short week, so we will have a Martin Luther King day and hopefully a sledding day.  I am going to go check the park out and make sure there is enough snow and double check the weather.
Thanks for letting me teach your child.  I love hanging out with them and watching them learn and grow.
Sincerely, Miss Heidi
